A new application for Patex wireless camera systems – Safe Rooms on ships.

As gun-wielding pirates are becoming more common place, ship owners have to find new ways of safeguarding their crew – enter the ship Safe Room.

Safe Rooms are where the crew run to if they are under attack. But there’s one problem, they can’t see what’s going on outside. Now with Patex covert wireless cameras, they can. Our cameras are secretly installed and can be activated from the Safe Room. They then relay live video and audio into the Safe Room which is then, in turn, relayed to the control centre anywhere in the world via satellite.

Now the crew – and the mainland operators – can see what’s going on in the rest of the ship whilst they are in the ship’s Safe Room.

Not only is wireless CCTV the new approach to CCTV (why lay cables when you can do the same job wirelessly?) now we have wireless mobile CCTV.

Mobile CCTV Receiver

Whether the job requires a mobile CCTV system to be placed in moving vehicles or the mobile CCTV system itself needs to be moved from one temporary site to another, we have the systems for all applications.
Our wireless mobile CCTV systems can be placed in moving vehicles like police CCTV vans, on trains through each carriage to the driver or on tankers to ensure surveillance from one end to the other. These systems allow all live video and audio to be transmitted in real time and will offer the same quality as cabled cameras.

Police Mobile CCTV

The second take up for our mobile CCTV is for temporary use and the most common application is event management. Working in events as diverse as F1, Glastonbury and Goodwood, our systems are moved from one site to another and installed within minutes. But, these mobile CCTV systems are also used for crowd control, fly tipping, covert surveillance, site safety and body worn CCTV.

One of our most exciting projects was to supply the live transmission for the Discovery Channel ‘Everest – Beyond The Limit’ Sherpa Cam; live footage from the top of Everest! Click the image below to find out more.

Need to transmit CCTV over water? Not a problem for Patex wireless CCTV. With the various options of wireless IP, 3G and no latency analogue CCTV, we have it covered.

We were called in to Leeds Castle because the moat was causing a problem for cables. We were also asked not to disturb any part of the fabric of the castle. A 6 x wireless camera system was installed and the thick walls were perfect for the analogue transmission waves.

The second installation was at Dover Harbour. A wireless CCTV link was placed at the end of the harbour walls to keep an eye on who was coming in and out. Of course it just wasn’t possible to lay cables across the harbour entrance but with our wireless CCTV quality being as good as cabled cameras, why would you need to?

One of the questions we’re always asked about is the quality of wireless CCTV.

‘Quality’ means two things: the quality of the gear and the quality of the picture and both are important.

In terms of the quality of the gear, wireless CCTV systems have had their reputation sullied by the cheap imports from the Far East. Our systems are built in the EU and if you want long lasting wireless CCTV that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg in engineer time trying to regularly re-set it then you need to buy EU manufactured wireless CCTV. Saves you maintenance costs in the long run.

In terms of the quality of the live video, our wireless CCTV is as good as fibred cameras. That’s the bench mark and that’s the job done!
